Graduation Application and Honors

https://facultyfiles.deanza.edu/policies/graduation.html

Degrees and certificates are awarded at the end of each quarter or summer session. Students must submit an online application for their intended degree or certificate to the Evaluations Department of the Admissions and Records Office.

The online application and related information can be found on the college website. Students who wish to apply for an Associate Degree for Transfer (A.A.-T or A.S.-T) must contact a counselor or academic adviser for their application.

Students should regularly perform a degree audit through Degree Works to monitor their own progress in reaching educational goals and meeting graduation requirements. It's also recommended that students consult with a counselor or academic adviser.

During the quarter preceding the quarter in which they plan to graduate, students should conduct a detailed review of their completed coursework, and compare the results against the requirements for the desired degree or certificate. (For example, students should do this in winter quarter if you are planning to graduate in the spring.) This will allow time to make any necessary schedule changes or add any needed classes. A counselor or academic adviser can assist with this review.

Students who have achieved a cumulative De Anza College GPA between 3.30 and 4.00 will be awarded associate degree honors at graduation, as follows:

4.00: Highest Honors – Summa Cum Laude
3.50-3.99: High Honors – Magna Cum Laude
3.30-3.49: Honors – Cum Laude

Foothill e-mail scam alert

2ww2w22w22222
We have received reports of scam emails impersonating Foothill–De Anza instructors and offering fake paid research or job opportunities. These messages may ask for personal details such as your phone number, non-district email address, or even financial information.

Tips to protect yourself:
  • Always check the sender’s address. Scammers often use look-alike emails.  For example, johnsonsara.fhda.edu@gmail.com is a fake lookalike address.  All district and college emails end only with @fhda.edu, @foothill.edu, or @deanza.edu.
  • We never ask for personal info by email. FHDA will not request phone numbers or alternate emails through unsolicited messages.
  • Avoid clicking suspicious links. Do not open links or attachments from unknown senders.
  • Don’t respond to offers of paid “research” or “jobs”. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
  • Always respond to your professor using a known email address or communicate via Canvas. This is always provided to you in the course syllabus.
If you receive a suspicious email, do not reply. Delete it or report it as spam to your email provider.
