UTOX Urine Toxicology Screen

In medical documentation, UTOX usually means Urine Toxicology or Urine Toxicology Screen.

It’s a urine test used to check for drugs or certain substances in the body, such as opioids, cocaine, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabis (THC), and sometimes other medications or substances depending on the test panel.

For example:

“UTOX positive for THC” → THC was detected in the urine.

“UTOX negative” → none of the substances included in that test panel were detected.

“UTOX pending” → the urine toxicology results have not come back yet.

You may also see UDS, which means Urine Drug Screen and is often used similarly to UTOX.

THC-THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol.

The full chemical name commonly used is delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC). It is the main psychoactive substance in cannabis (marijuana) that causes the “high” effect.
